Order electronic parts from Claude Code
Claude Code can read your KiCad or Altium BOM straight from the project folder. Connect Next Everything and it can also price that BOM for the number of boards you want, flag parts that are out of stock or being discontinued, suggest checked replacements and order the parts for you.
Next Everything is a remote MCP server. It covers the 630,000+ in-stock parts of the JLCPCB/LCSC library and checks DigiKey and Mouser live for every part in your BOM. Your assistant can look things up and prepare an order, but you always approve the payment yourself.
Set up Next Everything in Claude Code
- Create a free account and copy your API key from the dashboard. Replace
nx_live_your_keybelow with it. - Run the command in your terminal. It adds the server for the current project; add
--scope userto use it in every project, or--scope projectto share it with your team through.mcp.json. - Or, if you prefer config files, put the JSON into
.mcp.jsonin your project folder.
claude mcp add --transport http nexteverything https://mcp.nexteverything.io/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer nx_live_your_key"

"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.nexteverything.io/mcp",
"headers": {

}
}
}
}
Check it works. Run claude mcp list, or type /mcp inside Claude Code. nexteverything should show as connected.
What to ask Claude Code
Talk to it the way you would to a colleague who does your purchasing. For example:
- “Use Next Everything to check my BOM for 50 boards and fix anything that is out of stock.”
- “Find an in-stock 3.3 V LDO in SOT-23 that can supply 500 mA, cheapest first.”
- “This board uses an SPH0645 microphone. Is it still in production, and what can replace it?”
- “Compare JLCPCB, DigiKey and Mouser prices for every part in bom.csv at 100 boards.”
- “Order the parts for this project and send me the payment link.”
What Claude Code can do with it
- Check a BOM (
check_bom): matches every line from a KiCad, Altium or EasyEDA export, prices the build for your board count and flags out-of-stock, phasing-out and uncertain parts. - Find parts (
find_parts): search by part number, words, package, manufacturer and electrical specs. - Find replacements (
find_alternatives): compatible parts checked spec by spec, in the same package by default. - Change the BOM (
update_bom_line) and follow everything on a live project page. - Order (
place_order): we re-check stock and price and email you a payment link. Nothing is charged without you.
Every parameter is in the tool reference.
Troubleshooting
- Keep the command on one line. A trailing
\line break in PowerShell or cmd silently drops the--headerpart and every call fails with 401. - Start Claude Code from the folder that holds your BOM export so it can pass the file to
check_bom. - A
401error means the key is missing or wrong. Copy it again from your dashboard. - Still stuck? Write to hello@nexteverything.io.
