Order electronic parts from Claude Desktop

In the Claude app you can paste or attach a BOM and ask Claude to source it. With the Next Everything connector, Claude prices every line at JLCPCB, DigiKey and Mouser, flags problems and prepares an order you approve.

Next Everything is a remote MCP server. It covers the 630,000+ in-stock parts of the JLCPCB/LCSC library and checks DigiKey and Mouser live for every part in your BOM. Your assistant can look things up and prepare an order, but you always approve the payment yourself.

Set up Next Everything in Claude Desktop

  1. Create a free account and copy your API key from the dashboard. Replace nx_live_your_key below with it.
  2. Add a custom connector: open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it Next Everything and paste this URL with your key.
  3. Or edit claude_desktop_config.json (Settings → Developer → Edit Config) and restart Claude. This route runs mcp-remote through npx, so it needs Node.js installed.
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → name it Next Everything and paste this URL
https://mcp.nexteverything.io/mcp?key=nx_live_your_key
Settings → Developer → Edit Config (claude_desktop_config.json), then restart Claude

Check it works. Start a new chat and open the tools menu: Next Everything and its tools should be listed.

What to ask Claude Desktop

Talk to it the way you would to a colleague who does your purchasing. For example:

  • “Use Next Everything to check my BOM for 50 boards and fix anything that is out of stock.”
  • “Find an in-stock 3.3 V LDO in SOT-23 that can supply 500 mA, cheapest first.”
  • “This board uses an SPH0645 microphone. Is it still in production, and what can replace it?”
  • “Compare JLCPCB, DigiKey and Mouser prices for every part in bom.csv at 100 boards.”
  • “Order the parts for this project and send me the payment link.”

What Claude Desktop can do with it

  • Check a BOM (check_bom): matches every line from a KiCad, Altium or EasyEDA export, prices the build for your board count and flags out-of-stock, phasing-out and uncertain parts.
  • Find parts (find_parts): search by part number, words, package, manufacturer and electrical specs.
  • Find replacements (find_alternatives): compatible parts checked spec by spec, in the same package by default.
  • Change the BOM (update_bom_line) and follow everything on a live project page.
  • Order (place_order): we re-check stock and price and email you a payment link. Nothing is charged without you.

Every parameter is in the tool reference.

Troubleshooting

  • Treat the connector URL like a password: it contains your API key. You can create a new key in your dashboard at any time.
  • A 401 error means the key is missing or wrong. Copy it again from your dashboard.
  • Still stuck? Write to hello@nexteverything.io.
