Order electronic parts from Windsurf

Cascade can read your hardware project in Windsurf. Connect Next Everything and it can price the BOM for your board count, flag problem parts and order everything you approve.

Next Everything is a remote MCP server. It covers the 630,000+ in-stock parts of the JLCPCB/LCSC library and checks DigiKey and Mouser live for every part in your BOM. Your assistant can look things up and prepare an order, but you always approve the payment yourself.

Set up Next Everything in Windsurf

Create a free account and copy your API key from the dashboard. Replace nx_live_your_key below with it.
Add this to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json. Windsurf uses serverUrl instead of url.

Check it works. Refresh the MCP servers in Cascade (or restart Windsurf). nexteverything should appear with its tools.

What to ask Windsurf

Talk to it the way you would to a colleague who does your purchasing. For example:

“Use Next Everything to check my BOM for 50 boards and fix anything that is out of stock.”
“Find an in-stock 3.3 V LDO in SOT-23 that can supply 500 mA, cheapest first.”
“This board uses an SPH0645 microphone. Is it still in production, and what can replace it?”
“Compare JLCPCB, DigiKey and Mouser prices for every part in bom.csv at 100 boards.”
“Order the parts for this project and send me the payment link.”

What Windsurf can do with it

Check a BOM (check_bom): matches every line from a KiCad, Altium or EasyEDA export, prices the build for your board count and flags out-of-stock, phasing-out and uncertain parts.
Find parts (find_parts): search by part number, words, package, manufacturer and electrical specs.
Find replacements (find_alternatives): compatible parts checked spec by spec, in the same package by default.
Change the BOM (update_bom_line) and follow everything on a live project page.
Order (place_order): we re-check stock and price and email you a payment link. Nothing is charged without you.

Troubleshooting

If the server does not show up, check that the file is valid JSON: one missing comma hides every server in it.
A 401 error means the key is missing or wrong. Copy it again from your dashboard.
